Instructing us.
We accept instructions from professional, licensed access and lay clients. Generally, fees for legal services will be agreed on an hourly rate or fixed fee basis. We accept instructions from solicitors, in-house legal departments and other professional. We have experience acting for large corporations, developers, SMEs, as well as individuals.
Generally, we work on a fixed fee basis, however, were we are unable to estimate the likely work involved in advance of completing a particular piece of work, we charge for work on an hourly rate. Fees and hourly rates will vary depending on the complexity, urgency and funding of your case and the seniority of the barrister involved. Generally, where a case is more complex and work is required on an urgent basis fees will be higher. Fixed fees are provided based on an estimate of the amount of time a particular piece of work will take to complete. Fees for hearings and conferences include all preparation work unless otherwise stated. Fees are subject to VAT, in circumstances where a fee is not applicable to VAT we will advise accordingly.
Barristers at Skyline Chambers are self-employed and carry out their professional work personally. Timescales may therefore be subject to change due to other professional commitments and there may be occasions where a barrister is unavailable. We will ensure that clients are kept up to date about potential delays.
